Play Cards with the Locals

Residents of Korcula are very friendly; even if you can’t speak the native language, there are still fun activities you could enjoy, such as playing card games. In Dalmatia, there are many local card games, but traditional card games called Treseta and Briskula are the most famous ones. Those are actually Italian card games hosted on the Croatian coast and islands, played with triestine cards. These card games are extremely popular and easy to learn, with couple of different variations and rules. Poker is also extremely popular on this island.

If you don’t have anyone to play poker with, you can enjoy playing Texas Hold’em at partypoker. The site offers different kinds of tournaments that would match your level including the Sit & Go Single Table, Multi-Table, Shootouts, Heads Up, and Bounty Tournaments. The best choice for beginners is the Sit & Go Single Table because the stakes here are not that high and the games are quite slow; you will also have to wait for all the seats to be taken before the game can start. While on vacation, you can improve your chances of winning by reading some pointers under the “Master the Game” category at Partypoker. Here you can learn different tactics, poker theories and how to read your opponent’s actions.

Work and Enjoy the Rewards

Being on vacation in Croatia means getting away from work. So why would working be included on my list of fun activities? Some locals ask for help during the harvest season of olives in November and December, and grapes in September and October in exchange of Korčula specialties. This is a fun way to experience living on the island, and all your efforts will be rewarded with a scrumptious Croatian meal.
